Cakes Depicting Heritage and Tourism Sites of Baguio to Highlight 10th HRT Weekend

BAGUIO CITY, Aug. 14 (PIA) -- Baguio folks and visitors alike are up for another great treat at the 10th Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio’s (HRAB) Annual Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism (HRT) Weekend scheduled on September 5 to 7.



The HRT Weekend, the largest and most credible Culinary Showdown in the North , showcased in its previous staging extra-ordinary culinary products such as the Longest and Tastiest Raisin Bread, Giant Ice Castles, the Longest Original Baguio Longganisa, Chefs on Parade, the Largest Pizza, Pasta Festival, Fried Rice Festival, and Largest Wedding Cake.

For this year, the public will again be treated with cakes from known cake houses and pastry chefs headed by Chef Art Nucaza of the Baguio Country Club, featuring the City’s popular and historical infrastructures such as the Mansion, the Baguio Cathedral, Baguio City Hall, Melchor Hall of the Philippine Military Academy, the Post Office and the Baguio Country Club.

The culinary masterpieces will feature various cake flavors such as carrot and chocolate. These will be showcased to the public on September 5 at the SM City Baguio Atrium and expected to be to be tasted by around 8,000 people.

Aside from this annual feature of the HRT Weekend, culinary professionals and students from various hotel and restaurant establishments and schools and universities in Northern Luzon and even from other parts of Luzon will test their skills on the featured culinary competitions.

HRAB will also conduct jobs fair, trade fair and hotel/restaurant-related seminars during the three day weekend festival.

Other featured events for the weekend festival include “HRAB Got Talent Too” for HRAB member establishments and the Mr. and Ms. HRAB, wherein the preliminary competition is set on August 24 at the Multi-purpose Hall of Baguio Country Club, talent competition on August 25 at the SM City Atrium and the main Pageant night set at the Baguio Convention Center on September 5.

The HRT weekend will also feature a Lantern and Torch Parade that will start from the Baguio Convention Center at 5pm on September 6 and will pass through the city’s main thoroughfares.
