Survival Gear for Natural Disasters
Everyday there are
reasons that a person would need to have survival gear ready to go at a moments
notice. Yet, there are many people who do not understand what they should have
prepared, nor do they see the reason as to why they should have this type of
gear. In all reality, natural disasters can happen anywhere, and when these
happen a person is on their own. Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and the like are
all elements that a person can be put through. When these events happen, there
is no luxuries that people have and neglect to be thankful for. For example, no
electricity, no running water and no shelter. The idea of having survival kits
is good for every person out there, and they can offer a platform of safety
should the unthinkable happen.
One of the key
components a person will need to have is outdoor survival gear. This type of
gear is aimed at helping the person to survive in the wilderness. When having
to survive in the outdoors, a fire is something that is a necessity. Not only
is this something that provides warmth, it can also be a way to keep wild
animals away, alert others of where your location is at, and basically become
one of the best ways to meet natural needs. The same type of philosophy applies
to having bottled water, flashlights with an extra supply of batteries, a
pocket knife, and a supply of nonperishable food items. Other items that may
come in handy is a back up cell phone, in the event phone lines are still
operational, signal flares, extra clothing, bedding items, compass, maps of the
local area, and a first aid kit. These are items that can be the difference
between living or dying in extreme situations.
With this being
said, survival kits should be easily available for a home to find in the even
they are needed. In fact, it is advised that a person keep several of these
kits on hand and have them located throughout the home in the event they need
to make a quick exit. It is also advisable to have survival gear for every
member of the family. This is going to make supplies last longer and allows
everyone to live more comfortably. Each member of a household should know where
the supplies are located at all times so they can ensure to grab these if they
are needed.
Though most people
may think of outdoor survival gear as something that is needed for those who
spend their time in nature, this is gear that will become invaluable if there
is a natural disaster in the area. Those who have experienced these types of
disasters understand the chaos that results from these disasters, and it is a
situation in which no one wants to be involved in. Yet, those who are better
prepared to handle these situations are going to be those who come out of the
disaster with strength and determination.

Packing Survival Kits
There are hundreds
of thousands of people who spend their free time planning survival kits that
are meant to be their way of life should something happen. For many people,
this planning is due to the unease they feel with the current economy or the
fear of what could happen. Whatever the reason, everyone should have some sort
of survival gear in place in order to ensure they and their family is prepared
for every situation. Typical gear most people think of is bottled water,
flashlights, batteries and nonperishable food items. However, there is a whole
word to outdoor survival gear that can help to ensure the person is prepared
for any and all situations they come across.
Surviving without
electricity, running water, and the common luxuries that most people take for
granted requires a bit more than a few bottles of water and a flashlight. Those
who are eager to have survival kits that are going to aid in their survival,
they will find the gear also needs to include items that can be used in
multiple ways. For example, having the items to start a fire is not only going
to provide warmth and a way to cook food, but can also serve as a way to let
others know of the location a person is located. With this in mind, other
multiple use items will include plastic baggies that will allow for the storage
of items, but can also be instrumental in purifying the water a person is
drinking.
Other items the
person needs to include are those that are going to help with shelter if the
previous shelter is no longer available. In the best case scenario, the person
who has a tent is going to be in the best shape. However, if the tent were to
be blown to pieces by the weather, it is necessary for the person have a way to
stay warm and dry. These types of items are going to include rain coats, tarps,
gloves, hats, and the like. With the tarps and other items a person can build
their own fort to be safe, while the extra clothing is going to allow a person
to have safety from the elements.
Food is also a main
priority of any person wishing to have the survival gear needed to be safe and
survive. Packing foods that are sealed and full of healthy proteins and carbs,
a person can ensure they are well fed. But, there are also ways the person can
ensure they do not have to rely on these types of food. This way includes
packing items that will aid in hunting of foraging. These items can be a small
caliper weapon, knife, fishing pole, and a fishing net.
With outdoor
survival gear, a person has the ability to ensure they survive no matter any
obstacle that may be in their way. Those who pack with this in mind, will find
they are able to have peace of mind knowing they are prepared for anything, and
their life will greatly benefit to being prepared.

Spoil Yourself With a Visit to the Barber
You have probably
treated your wife to a day at the salon for her birthday, anniversary, or
another special occasion. She enjoys to be pampered, and believe it or not, you
may enjoy it as well. The next time she asks you what she can get you for your
birthday or for Father̢۪s Day, ask her for a gift certificate to the local
barber shop in Grand Rapids. She will probably be surprised, but will also be
grateful that she won̢۪t have to buy you another tool set or another pair of
socks. Here are some of the reasons why visiting the barber is a good idea.
Love Your Haircut
If you are like
most men, you probably get your haircut from a cheap unisex salon, or you have
your wife cut your hair for you. At the salon, the hairstylist will probably
try to cut your hair with scissors. The barber, on the other hand, is trained
to cut your hair with clippers and will probably do a good job. The chances are
high that you will walk out of the shop with a haircut that you love.
Feel Pampered
Don̢۪t worry; a
little pampering won̢۪t detract from your manliness if you are being pampered
at the barber shop. You don̢۪t even need to call it pampering if you don̢۪t
want to. But just the same, you can sit back, relax, and let someone else take
care of your shave for you.
Experience a
Traditional Shave
The haircut will be
nice, and the company won̢۪t be bad either, but the highlight of your trip to
a barber shop in Grand Rapids will definitely be the traditional wet shave.
First, the barber will apply a warm, wet cloth to your face. This helps to
soften the hair and open up your pores. Once he has applied the cloth, he will
use a badger hair brush to lather up some shaving cream. Then, using the brush,
he will apply the lather to your face. The brush helps to lift up the hairs in
preparation for the blade. Once this lather has been applied, he will use the
straight razor to shave off your facial hair. You may be nervous when he
applies the blade to your skin, but he has been trained and has had lots of
practice. Finally, he will rinse off your face and apply some post-shave
products to revitalize your skin.

Baguio’s New Gig: Wagwagan or Ukayukan Centers
It is true that life is getting tougher and tougher. If in the past you
are able to go to the mall once a week, today you settle for a once-a-month
shopping spree.
But if you are in Baguio, you can go shopping every day. Thanks to
ukay-ukayan or wagwagan shops that have mushroomed everywhere in time.
What is Wagwag or Ukay-ukay?
Wagwag or ukay-ukay are second-hand clothes from foreign countries like
Hong Kong and United States being sold in thrift stores.
If you go around the corners of Baguio City, from the lengthy Session
Road to elevated Hilltop, you find wagwagan or ukay-ukayan.
Usually, wagwag or ukay-ukay are categorized into shoes, men’s pants,
women’s pants, scarf and laces, jackets, shirts and formal and corporate
dresses.
Some vendors just assort the clothes and put everything inside a box or
on the floor for people to pick.
When you go to the Baguio City public market, you would see crowds
checking on a set of clothes placed on a covered ground.
Why Go to Wagwagan or Ukay-ukayan?
All products in wagwagan or ukay-ukayan are imported. However, this
does not mean that wagwagan or ukay-ukayan centers promote ethnocentrism.
You can find Dulce, Chanel, Levis and other famous brands in wagwagan
or ukay-ukayan. Thus, you do not need to go to London or New York to experience
these luxuries.
In wagwagan or ukay-ukayan, you are sure you are buying original
products. No fake or Class A products are found in wagwagan or ukay-ukayan.
Because the clothes are second-hand, you are sure you are spending
minimal amount to acquire an original bag or material.
A Chanel bag for P200 may sound impossible but if you are in a wagwagan
or ukay-ukayan in Baguio, it is a reality.
A wide range of choices are also available. Even the eras, from retro
to electro, are well-represented. You can check from end to end and grab what
you like.
If you are in Baguio City, try the famous night market along Harrison
Road to get the best wagwag or ukay-ukay shopping experience. It starts at 9 in
the evening every day (as long as it is not raining).
But if you are planning to own a house in Baguio City, Real Estate Baguio is here to assist you in getting your dream house into a reality.

Mr. Sun is Back in Baguio: Time to Do Out Laundry!
August 27, 2013- No sweeter thing can greet Baguio people in the early morning than Mr. Sun who just appeared in the sky this morning.
The raining finally stopped yesterday evening and
everyone is expecting a bright day today.
For weeks, the rain has been pouring non-stop causing landslides in the
Cordillera region.
According to reports, rainfall from Tropical Storm Nando
triggered a landslide in Bontoc Village.
Thanks God, no one is hurt.
Meanwhile in other parts of the country, flood water has
not yet subsided. We at Real Estate Baguio continue praying for everyone’s
safety.
Now that the sun is back, what should we do?
Let’s do our laundry. We hit the laundry area and let
our clothes enjoy Vitamin D from the sun.
