BAGUIO CITY, May 29
(PIA) -- The National Youth Commission (NYC) is inviting interested individuals
to apply as participants to the Inaugural ASEAN Youth Eco-Leaders Programme
which will be held from August 15-September 20, 2013 in Kuala Lumpur.
Mr. Jun Angeles,
NYC Northern Luzon Area Officer, announced that the ASEAN Youth Volunteer
Program Secretariat (AYVP) has organized the Inaugural ASEAN Youth Eco-leaders
Programme under the support of the ASEAN Secretariat and the Ministry of Youth
and Sports Malaysia.
The programme is
designed to function as a dedicated youth volunteerism platform to create opportunities
in knowledge-driven volunteerism, support the exchange of learning experiences,
develop capacity, strengthen cross-sectoral cooperation, enhance cross-cultural
understanding and forge a sense of regional identity while making a sustainable
difference to communities across ASEAN.
Aimed at empowering
the ASEAN youth in the conservation and preservation of the environment, the
inaugural programme will run for five weeks and will be fully funded.
Qualified
participants will be provided with two way flight tickets, accommodation, three
meals per day, project orientation and travels during the duration of the
project.
To qualify,
applicants must be nationals of ASEAN member states, must be between 18-30
years old who are of good moral character, physically and mentally fit to
travel, and with background in environment related activities.
Interested
applicants can come from universities/colleges, industry and foundations,
non-government organizations, government agencies, and aspiring volunteer leaders
who want to make a difference.
Angeles stressed
that that the selection of participants will be based on the merits of the
individual.

submission of application is midnight of May 31. . Only shortlisted volunteers
will be notified.
